The past week or so...

Rupert in the silver chain, and Cooper in the red kerchief, fell asleep, nose to nose the day before Rupert jetted off to Sardinia. See the heart shape? Nose to neck to paws? AWWWWWW.
They had loads of fun together.
I finished my Dad's Civil War Socks, and he put them on and kept them on for the drive back home! :D Me thinks he like!! Dad, you have nice big feet.... We may have to work on the timing for a second pair. They were knit in DK weight... I'm not even going to entertain fingering weight yarn for socks for my dad's size 13 W feet. Yikes. A little side story; I was knitting these sock when we all went to pick up Cooper from the breeder. My parents already had Rupert, as they had picked him up a week or two earlier... When they came up to visit, we all jumped into the car to go get Cooper... all the while the kids were ecstatic that we were 'finally' getting a dog. Little did they know that all summer long I was deciding that I was ready to open my heart to a dog. (long sad story that I'd rather not live through anytime in this lifetime) So these socks are special to all of us, as I was knitting on them as we drove the three hours to the breeder. On the way home, I did not knit... I was holding my Furry Happiness in my lap the whole way home... smelling Dobie Dust... Mmmmmmmm :)
Smashing? Yes?
A picture of my Furry Happiness!!!! Looking rather handsome in red...
And this Wednesday, I took a free day, to run over to Modern Yarn in Montclair. They were having a Closing Sale... (but are hoping to open real soon). ;)
$5.00 for this bag... you know me... The Bag Lady... too cute to pass up... and it folds into a cute little packet. I keep these in my purse for shopping... I have quite the collection...
My Purl Gurl T-shirt... and my lovely 'gold' silk yarn... don't ask me why the manufacture calls this color gold... it looks like 'natural'... so soft and yummy! Not so fun to wind up on the winder... let's just say that I wasted swatching time getting out a huge know that was not there to begin with... sheeesh...
Then some very nice Habu... cobweb! I may have to fortify myself before knitting with this stuff... soooo thin.... but I LOVE the colors! Pink and Plum.

So that is what I have been up to...

Frogged

My Wine Pi Shawl. I waited until I got 'the feeling'... because I knew that once 'the feeling' came around, that I would frog it and do it all over again and it would be right, not forced.

This afternoon, out of the blue, I picked up the shawl and said to myself that if it was meant to be, that I would easily find the last few stitches and then the time would be right. Hey, I know myself... Wouldn't you know it? I had the last link of stitches in my right hand!! Then I said, that if it was meant to be, the stitches would come out after all my zealous weaving of the ends, very easily. That was it! I knew that it should, and would, happen that way. So I brought it all the way back to the stockinette stitches... I ordered yet another skein of Trekking from The Loopy Ewe... I really would like it big... I may just use it as a blankie for myself... I don't know. I would like to have enough yarn whatever I do. A shawl that I use as a blankie?

No pictures... I figure we all know what a frogged shawl looks like... it ain't pretty... but it will be in a few days...

Mother's Day 2009

We went to Bushkill Falls, PA again this year for Mother's Day, at my request. I had such fun last year, that I wanted to do it all again this year with Cooper in tow.

Though on the 1 millionth stair up to the top, I asked Miss J how I could forget all about the stairs?!?! my calves are aching today still.
Don't mind my Hulk arm... the wind was blowing into my sleeve... my arm is not naturally freakishly large...

My husband, Miss M & Cooper.
One of the beautiful waterfalls...
I loved these flowers.
Miss J 11, Miss M 6 and E-Brake 13...
One of a pair of ducklings that were playing at the shore...
Another waterfall...
From the top level.
I am usually behind the camera...
There was a bit of knitting after lunch... more on that later...

To all mothers... I hope you had a wonderful day. May your children shower you with love everyday, not just this one day.

Art Festival 2009

Piet Mondrian... watch out... Marisa is only in Kindergarten and had this displayed at the County Courthouse during the month of March...
This is one of Julia's pieces... the colors are wonderful in person...
Evan's Stamp ... he had to carve out a stamp then make the whole piece.
Another piece by Julia.
Scratch Art by Evan
Julia's favorite thing, sugar, I mean cake...

It was a wonderful night out last night. The school and art teacher did a wonderful job!

What's This?

OOOOOOooooo pretty box... what's inside?

My yarn winder!! Now it can be in the living room, in plain view without being there, for all to see. That is my little organizational hint/tip for you. I got this box in the gift wrap section in T@rget. They were just a few dollars and in my opinion so worth it. The colors go well in that room, and I can have some of my knitting supplies close at hand. I have another one that houses the recharging cords for my digital camera, my iPod and cell phone.

So did you see the nice shawl that Stuck in Illinois made? Swoon... I too have been bitten by the shawl and lace bug, though these two shawls were knit using Trekking XXL sock yarn. I am disappointed in the size of the purple one, and I will see if the Frog and Fix bug hits me... I like the size of the gray one a bit better... It was great fun, though my husband said that for *him* the view was quite boring... LOL . Last I checked I knit for my pleasure, so his remark really made me laugh!!! Hey, it's great that he keeps an eye on what I am working on, I did find it funny!

Off to keep an eye on Cooper. He had the big snip yesterday. He had a more difficult surgery as he had an undecended testicle... it was way up in his abdomen. This morning I actually had to go get a second pain killer for him as he was wandering around the house just whining... when I called the vet to question this, they urged me to come in and get this second Rx for his pain... poor guy...

The sun is shining and it's supposed to be a beautiful weekend for us here in New Jersey... enjoy!!

My Little Hint for My Fellow Knitters

Two of my fellow knitters have sad stories to tell, and it breaks my little knitty heart...
Yarnhog and Heathen Housewife... I hope that their knitting projects find their way back to their knitty hands...

In each of my knitting bags that leave the house with me, I put in these tags with my cell phone number. No name, just "If found please call 555-555-5555" . I hate to even tempt the Knitting Gods... I would hope and pray that some kind soul would call me to let me know that they found my lost project...
