Guess where I was at lunchtime?

At school teaching the kids to knit!!

Oh, how quickly time flies when wool fumes abound... I was pleasantly surprised at the number of kids that remembered to bring their supplies!! The flier announcing the knitting club was sent out mid March, so I brought along some spare needles in case some kids forgot, only a few did so. I am beginning with the 4th and 5th grades first. Good thing, because there were about 12 kids there! Miss J did help, and I did the best I could to go around to each knitter. I assured them that I would be there every Monday. Though, I could see that 45 minutes was in no way long enough to do more than a knitted cast-on. When the bell rang signaling the end of lunch period, you could hear a collective groan, and then a happy smile, when I told the girls, that I would be there next Monday!

Whooooo Hooooooo I am beyond happy!! I'm going to go knit my sock!

Yeah for you! How lucky those kids are to have a dedicated teacher like you. I am certain they will cherish this lesson forever.

That is so cool. I would love to do that. I tried to get women at work to get together at lunch and bought needles and yarn and a lot of folks showed up the first week and then no one. They all took home needles and yarn and never came back. It was sad.
